Geopark Visitor Centre

To gain a better understanding of the geological history of Hong Kong, the public may now visit the newly opened Geopark Visitor Centre in the Lions Nature Education Centre in Tsiu Hang, Sai Kung. The 160-square-metre visitor centre set up by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) aims to give the public an overview of the geological environment in Hong Kong, promote greater interest in earth sciences and raise the awareness of the need to preserve our geological heritage. The Centre was opened in December 2009. After further stage of  improvement, the visitor centre re-opened on 3 September 2010.

Rock Academy

Having completed the journey in visitor centre, visitor can proceed to Rock Academy which is located in the outdoor area of Lions Nature Education Centre. Formed by 30 different kinds of large rock specimen found in Hong Kong, the rock trail provides comprehensive information boards illustrating the formation of rocks. Visitor can touch the specimens to identify the characteristics of different rocks.

How to get there
Take the following public transportation,
get off at Pak Kong bus stop and walk to the Geopark Visitor Centre.

Maxicab No.1A from Choi Hung MTR - Sai Kung
*Only available on Sundays and Public holidays only
